I have been a registered nurse for the past 23 years, working in the operating rooms of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. One of my major responsibilities was to evaluate treatments and provide nursing care for patients in difficult situations, including some serious diseases, surgeries, and chemotherapy.

While my experiences as a nurse have trained me to work closely with patients day to day to support their needs, one fundamental question always lingered in my mind: why do people suffer?

My husband has been battling prostate cancer, kidney failure, high blood pressure, and even depression for years without seeing the effectiveness of traditional medical treatment. So suffering, to me, was not merely a philosophical concept, but a frightening physical and emotional reality.

My years of practicing Western medicine have not yielded satisfactory answers because I believed the system was incomplete. This realization, in light of my life circumstances and concern for my husband, was a disheartening sign that I might not be able to help every patient through every illness using just what I knew at the time.

I decided to seek training in Eastern medicine for more answers. Over the past few years, I have been taking classes to learn an alternative, holistic approach to medical care involving not only procedures and treatments but also - more importantly - the source of the problem.

Understanding that one's mind and body come from the same energy source truly helped me change how I perceive and diagnose my patients, my husband being one of them. When I observed how drastically he changed from this alternative approach that could not be explained by Western techniques, my passion for the field grew even stronger.

Dedicating my life to this purpose, I decided to pursue my dream of starting my own clinic. I am currently licensed to practice Eastern medicine in both New York and Pennsylvania, specializing in the following areas:
  • Shoulder
  • Neck
  • Back
  • Acupuncture
  • Cancer treatment
My goal is to treat patients by first discovering the origin of an illness and then determining a solution beyond Western methods. I am especially thrilled to share my wisdom and insight from my complete medical training, experiences that I know will help in better serving those in need.

With sufficient treatment, you can also be treated for common ailments and more complicated medical conditions. Explore and experience the power of acupuncture. Contact LEE & Zhao Acupuncture to schedule an appointment today.
